First 2 episodes were good… and then episodes 3-6 happened. Felt like i was watching Sharkboy and Lavagirl. yo, kevin feige, i am BEGGING you to stop with the 6 episode format.

i get that this is a show for a younger audience and would probably never have fully worked for me with that in mind but it started in a great place and i just felt less excited about it with every successive episode. i also reeeeally don’t think the tone of this show is well-equipped to tackle police shootings, especially minutes after doing a fun thomas crown/home alone sequence with the same cops. are they dangerous or not. also, maybe a misfire when a cop shooting sequence makes you go “yeah i kinda get why the cops wanna shoot that guy”
on a lighter note, why is high school purple at night. they got a euphoria high in new jersey too

Suffers from Marvel TV Syndrome where it starts off great (especially in this case) before gradually getting worse ultimately leading to a meh feeling overall
episode 1:
holy shit, this was tons of fun. started this with low expectations but this shit was a blast. the direction was great and the editing went full on Edgar Wright style. can’t wait for the next episode.

Has more personality and style in its first episode than any movie from Peyton Reed or Jon Watts, but maybe what separates Ms. Marvel from the other shows and movies is simply Iman Vellani. Post-Endgame, there hasn’t been a lack of talent per se, but doling out big roles to big stars isn’t particularly exciting either. Whatever which way, established talent or new, Vellani oozes with an effortless charm that even when the show struggles in its bits of storytelling, it’s still a joy to watch.
Not sure how the show runners pulled it off, a show that feels so unapologetically its own thing, but would be cool if more MCU movies and shows would have a sense of identity.
And once again, you could not convince me Batgirl was bad.

I expected nothing so I’m shocked. This is good storytelling. A breath of fresh air for this (recently lifeless) cinematic universe. It’s a grounded and human story with a creative direction that knows what it wants to be, doesn’t pretend or wish to be more, and last but not least, tackles on real social issues.
I emotionally connected with Kamala in a few minutes. She’s so far well written and you can feel the filmmakers understand the character.
I think this has a lot of potential and I hope it stays as good as this episode was. This may be divisive because the style and humor is reminiscent of Disney channel shows, but it’s much better than that. Tbh I think they have done a good job avoiding cliches.
