The well crafted courtroom drama offers you with both brilliantly executed edge of seat moments and your typical flimsy tropes with stereotypical sympathy drives. After laying out the story in pretty much the initial 20 mins, it does a commendable job in keeping you invested for the next 120 mins through its engaging proceedings. Some of the dialogues get powerfully written and Mohanlal’s perfect delivery only further elevates the impact. Anaswara Rajan was just outstanding in depicting her inner strength and resilience, making one root for her right from the get go. Despite of the shortcomings, the strong lead performances and emotional highs hitting the right notes make it for a solid enough watch.

Jeethu Joseph in an earlier interview stated that he doesn't understand the term "making" of a movie , he kept on saying "enthanu ee making!? , eniku manasilavilla" . He wasn't lying and it shows throughout this movie lol. It can easily pass of as something made in 2015. He may be a decent writer but far from a good director for me.
To be very fair and honest idk how to put this into words which may definitely be misinterpreted but I was so much disturbed and grossed out by the movie !! . The RAPE was on your face throughout the movie and I felt like they're selling out rape…
i don’t understand jeethu joseph’s obsession with characters that are so dramatic. Like, we get it. we get what you intended. you don’t have to spoon feed us the same thing again and again. i have mixed thoughts about this movie. but my god, mohanlal. I never doubted you. You were literally the only sane person in the whole crew. You know where to draw the line. While all other characters (even anashwara at some point) got so dramatic you showed us what subtle acting looked like.
Nothing so exceptional about his acting. but it feels fresh. good to see him act again.
Neru worked for me in parts but mostly it's Jeethu Joseph being lethargic in his writing efforts and bringing back a stale TV-serial level making with a wonderful Anashwara and a pleasant mohanlal after a while. My mother really loved the film on the other hand.
The un-necessary replaying of graphical sexual violence put me off terribly and Jeethu was conveniently playing with audience rage to mask his shallow, low effort writing. The pre-climactic torturous scene Anashwara is subjected to is what I'd call unpleasant ways of excercising cinematic liberty because this cannot happen in actual court premises.
Priya Mani is a talented actor who is wasted in the film. Probably Jeethu intended a courtroom drama as tense as Pink…

I am yet to collect my initial thoughts, but to call this as the comeback of vintage Lalettan is a disservice to the great legend Mohanlal itself. Honestly, the movie doesn't claim any novelty in the courtroom drama genre nor demands an actor like Mohanlal for the role of the protagonist. What stood out for me and will stay with me longer was the character of Sara and Anaswara Rajan's subtle acting.
A very Jeethu Joseph core movie, in every sense. The presentation, the writing, the 10 secondil 10 reaction shots, the dramatic tone everything is your typical jeethu joseph style, which is the movie's ultimate drawback. It could've been an alright movie if he had kept aside his usual antics (keep the transition game tho, those are fun). Everyone in this movie is at the most extreme point of a particular character trait, the evil person gives the most obvious wide evil smirk every time he gets, the opposition lawyer is the most evil inhumane lawyer you will find, stuff like that. All this is done to garner sympathy for the victim but the thing is we already are very sympathetic…

A run-of-the-mill courtroom drama, based on a safe-bet premise, which comes with more than enough basic crowd-pleasing moments to work among the masses. It’s refreshing to see Mohanlal deliver one of those vulnerable acts after a very long time, but the veteran actor loses limelight to Anaswara Rajan, who steals the show all the way, with her (the) most compelling performance yet. Given the almost zero competition from Malayalam industry this season, this is sure to work at the Box-Office.
This one is just good, thanks to a smartly written (as in, keeping the pulse of the audience in mind) and engaging script. My favorite Jeethu Joseph films are still Drishyam and Kooman (sorry, but can’t pick between these two).

P. P. S. What’s with all those unnecessary, tacked-on expository bits in between, involving some random passerby (uncredited) characters??!! Stood out like a sore thumb.
Neru, reuniting Lalettan and Jeethu Joseph, after the mammoth of Drishyam films, but Neru becomes an average courtroom drama, if not else, with the presence of Lalettan and Anaswara. With elevating moments placed sporadically in the screenplay, Neru from Jeethu Joseph is a watchable drama.
The majority of the film happens inside a courtroom, and we get a glimpse of how cases of rape and sexual harassment are dealt with in courts. There’s victim shaming, character assassination and the struggle of recalling the traumatic incidents, and it was unconvincing, and predictable for a courtroom drama.
Mohanlal finally gets to play a role that sort of limits him in flexing the facial muscles, with restrained performance of a lawyer giving comeback.…
This film could have been lot better if Jeethu didn't directed and Santhi Mayadevi didn't wrote it.
