Follow a hapless hunchback who yearns for love, but finds himself in the middle of a murderous feud between the Pope and the king of France when each orders the hunchback to kill the other.
As a fan of Kevin Heffernan, his work (for the most part), and Super Troopers, what the actual hell is this movie? Not only are we wasting Brian Cox and his precious time on this earth, but we are wasting the time of every viewer who is expected to laugh at this dumb movie. Dumb fun is normally my cup of tea, as satire works extremely well when it hits right, and these actors occasionally…
Me: Now eventually you might have jokes in your comedy, right? Hello? yes?
Broken Lizard: I really hate that man.
Broken Lizard had a hunch,
When having oysters for lunch,
"Get out some pages,
Let's go Middle Ages,
Before Disney beats us to the punch."
Score : 3.9/10 ✅
Annoyingly unfunny and crass. Majestically humiliating in regard to how I use my free time.
Not necessarily the worst thing I’ve seen in my life but certainly one that did test my endurance. Not laughing after being bombarded by so many jokes was ironically exhausting. I immediately knew in the first 5 minutes that it was a mistake. Feels like it had potential but the inefficient script does not match the competent acting from the cast.
In an ironic manner: I was on board for something stupid and decided to approach this film with extreme low expectations. Despite all that, the delivery was ultimately lazy due to an overabundance of first-degree jokes and an intolerable tone.
I was excited to hear that the Broken Lizard gang was making another film as I've seen and enjoyed 5 other films from these guys(Club Dread, Beerfest, Slammin Salmon, and the Supertroopers films). Unfortunately Quasi wasn't funny and I was bored throughout.
'Miracle Workers' season 2 did this better and that was 3 years ago. 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' did this better, changed comedy forever, and that was 48 YEARS AGO. Hell, even 'A Million Ways to Die in the West' did this better...and that film sucks ass.
I'd say "Why even bother trying" but the team behind this movie already took that advice literally.
'Quasi' is a reimagining of The Hunchback of Notre Dame but with swearing, poop, and sex jokes. At this point, there is nothing different between this and any of Adam Sandler's laziest projects.
The Broken Lizard comedy group, most famous for creating the 'Super Troopers' franchise, tries their best to be humorous about the Dark…
Quasi is a bad movie. There is no denying that. The writing is poor, the acting is hammy, and the sets and costumes are mediocre at best. I love the Broken Lizard guys, but this is easily their worst film. However, despite it's troubles, I actually laughed... Not a lot, and it was mainly because of how absurdly stupid it gets, but I did laugh. Which makes it a better comedy than Asteroid City! ZING! I WILL TAKE EVERY JAB I CAN AT YOU WES! Anyways... Jokes aside, I really can't recommend Quasi to anyone except diehard BL fans. Even then, you'll likely be disappointed... 🤷
I’m a Broken Lizard fan, so Quasi was very much anticipated by me. I was hoping this would be a return to form feature by the crew. TV wise I knew they still had it with how good Tacoma FD is. They’re on fire (no pun) each and every episode. I was skeptical when I saw this was going to be a Hulu exclusive. Well, I saw Quasi today and it’s very much a miss by the BL boys.
Simply put, it’s not very funny at all. I may have chuckled a couple of times and that’s being generous. Much like Super Troopers 2 with the over abundance of Canadian stereotypes, they do the same thing with French but for…
Broken Lizard are back! Doing their goofy stoner take on "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". It's a little bit Monty Python, a little bit Kids in the Hall, a little bit "Your Highness". Each of the 5 members of the comedy troupe plays dual roles, Logan Roy himself narrates the movie (impressive that they've managed to keep him on retainer ever since "Super Troopers"), there are hardly any outside cast members (bit disappointing), outtakes over the end credits.
May these bastards continue to scrape together money for more movies until they're all dead and buried. The film industry lacks certified comedy teams these days, and I like their who-gives-a-damn spirit. They have a wacky-slacker ethos that you don't see as…
It's remarkable how a 2023 Broken Lizard comedy, feels dated than the two-decades old Super Troopers...
None of the jokes land, as they're mostly made up of disabled jabs, exaggerated accents and modern jokes in a period setting (GET IT, SELFIE?!). Quasi's just a pain of a movie, just wastes strong potential.
I do not like Broken Lizards. I do not like them on the pool cage when visiting my parents in Florida, I do not like them in their interminably unfunny comedies. I know the Broken Lizard guys are popular but I've never understood why. I may have never once laughed in any of their mediocre movies. Probably should stop watching them, huh?
Quasi is no Renfield. The film is about a hunchback bell-ringer / torture machine designer in medieval France who gets mixed up in the squabbles between the King and the Pope.
Mainstay joke of the film: Medieval French people talk and swear just like us. That's it guys. Pack it up and go home... we'll never get them…
They don't really make these, silly, shitty, little comedy movies anymore and I guess I was just in the mood for it, because I found this a delightful throwback to something I would have giggled at in high-school or college. The date I watched may be apropos, as well.
