Why didn't anyone tell me about this essential slice of Gen-X cinema before now? Move over Reality Bites, Kicking and Screaming, Empire Records, Go, and Fight Club. I think I found a new favorite.
After being held hostage for 36 days in a convenience store, Cliff Spab (a fantastic Stephen Dorff) emerges to find that he has instantly achieved an unwanted celebrity status after the entire ordeal was broadcast nationwide on television. While the FBI seems to think Spab was in on the situation, Spab only wants to escape the limelight and perhaps make his way back, a la Odysseus, to his Penelope, Wendy (Reese Witherspoon), one of the other unfortunate hostages.
