Pretty cool, just not so sure that they’re haikus?

Three little one-minute fancies from Chris Marker. The first, similar in its visual distortion to the "zone" segments from Sans Soleil, is a minor piece with a haunting ending. The second, the extraordinarily titled 'Owl Gets in Your Eyes', is eerie, sensual... slightly pretentious, but I'm not the sort of person who thinks that's necessarily a demerit. Definitely the most dreamlike of the shorts.

The final one comes with an introductory caption explaining it as a homage to the Lumière brothers' short documentaries. It is followed by an initially baffling clip of a deserted railway line, then a caption which is either a pointed political statement on the decline of French industry or just a silly joke. Or both.

seemed a bit silly & pointless to me.

Saw the tribute to the Lumière brothers and thought "it would be really funny if the train didn't arrive at the station" but Marker was one step ahead of me.
