  Olmi. Kiarostami. Loach.

  Three auteurs. Three stories. Three ways to tease a sociological metaphor. A triptych made in episodic format carved from my least favorite cinematic tradition—the 60s European omnibus—but the film tries its best to unite these stories under a single theme while married to a single location. 

  We’re on a train headed from Central Europe to Rome. Tickets are the currency to buy comfort and avoid hassle, but they’re really a metaphor for class struggle and social standing. Illegal refugees get threaded throughout each tale, speaking to the larger European mood of how the country deals with its immigration problem.

  Tickets is a collaborative film involving three filmmakers: Ermanno Olmi, Abbas Kiarostami, and Ken Loach. The film follows events on a train ride across Italy toward Rome. Each filmmaker contributed a short film to create the full film. The only thing that links the shorts together, other than the train, is an Albanian refugee family that appears in all three shorts. Olmi's short is about a professor who daydreams about having a romance with a colleague from work; Kiarostami's short is about a widow of a general who bosses around a young man accompanying her to the general's memorial service as part of his community service; and Ken Loach's short is about three Scottish football fans heading to Rome to…

  Three stories by three different directors: Ermanno Olmi, Abbas Kiarostami and Kern Loach. All stories have their charms and strengths and stand out in subtle observations of human behavior, but the third story, by Ken Loach about three Celtic supporters on their way to a European cup final in Rome, is just perfect - I watched every second of it with a huge smile.

  القصة الثانية (عباس كيارستمي): شاب يعمل كمساعد رعاية لعجوز متسلطة ، يتحمل معاملتها القاسية خلال الرحلة بس بالاخير ينفجر بوجهها

  القصة الثالثة (كين لوتش): مشجعين فريق سلتيك الاسكتلندي يحاولون مساعدة لاجئ ألباني يُطرد من القطار بسبب مشكلة في التذاكر، وهمة همين عدهم مشكلة ولهذا تصير لوصة

  الفيلم تجربة ممتعة، لكن قصة كيارستمي تظل الأبرز بجمالها البصري وعمقها الايحائي برأيي

  This is a great train movie. But, unlike other movies that take place entirely on a train (The Lady Vanishes, Murder on the Orient Express or even Dennis Hopper's wacked out Tracks) there is no big drama or mystery. This is a movie about the small assumptions, interior dialogues and short dramas that take place in a packed train. Each passenger on a crowded train develops a mental drama in which the other passengers are the players. Sometimes it is elaborate and spills into actual interaction. Sometimes is it small and we retreat into our own internal space. Sometimes we actually become involved with others simply because of close proximity.   بداية بإسم الفيلم، القطار واحداث القصص الثلاث واختيار إرمانو أولمي وكين لوتش؛ جميعها كانت بادرة من المخرج عباس كيارستيمي ويالها من بادرة عظيمة.

  مابين السياسة والحب والطبقية والقلق والخوف خرجت لنا ثلاث قصص تسقينا عصارة أسلوب هؤلاء المخرجين.

  بداية بالقدير إرمانو أولمي وصراع البروفيسور مع نفسه التي شاخت ولا تمتلك الجرأة للتحدث بصوت عالي بمشاعرها ولو لمرة، في مقابل ذلك يصور بذهنه مشاهد ولقاءات لا متناهية لما يود أن يفعل أو سيفعل لو شاءت به الأقدار.
  وكما هي عادة إرمانو أولمي يجعل من كل مشهد من مشاهد أعماله ذو قيمة خاصة وتستطيع أن تخرج منه بشتى الأفكار.
  فـ نظرات الناس تعكس قلق نفسه وترددها، وإعطاءه للحليب هو تمنيه بالرجوع لزمن قادر فيه أخذه القليل…

  Three episodes on a train going to Rome. Each of the episodes is by a different director. The first part (I guess by Abbas Kiarostami) is about great longing, the second part (I guess by Ermanno Olmi) about regulating grief and anxiety and limits of devotion and the third part (Ken Loach) is about egoism vs. generosity and kindness.

  Triptych/omnibus of short stories all told on the same passenger train, but all three stories are from different directors so there's different moods being struck by each story here. The three stories do all inevitably come to feature the same ticket taker, (kinda like how all four stories in that movie "Four Rooms" feature Tim Roth as the bellhop) but with the focus being on the passengers, the tones of all three kinda differ from one another.

  In the first story we have an older man who's going to attend some work related conference but is stuck fantasizing about the blond woman who helped him book a train ticket in the first place when it seemed like booking one would…

  Ketiga cerita berbeda dalam perjalanan kereta ke Roma dari ketiga sutradara lejen.

  Part pertama agak boring dan ngantuk
  Part kedua lumayan kesal sama tingkah laku nenek-nenek yang boomer.
  Part ketiga jadi part terbaik. Melihat tingkah laku tiga fans Celtic yang penuh semangat dan arogan namun cukup peduli. Lucu anzenk ngeliat aksen scottish yang bawaannya kayak pengen berantem.

  An interesting variation on the old-fashioned omnibus film, the three stories colliding with one another in so many small but potent ways. Olmi’s poetic humanism is like a salve against some unspecified political threat playing out in the film's background, a lovely Proustian reverie exploring the gigantic emotions playing out behind the most unassuming faces. Loach’s entry may be heavy-handed, but he consistently convinces that his compassionate fury demands such treatment; a plea for internationalist solidarity in a world that wants us to think we’re all alone. Kiarostami’s surprising miniature marvel anticipates the ideas he’d explore in his final two fiction films; usurping other people’s seats, listening to other people’s headphones, borrowing whatever emotional support we can from strangers who more or less fit the part. The overarching impression, suggested by the train’s cramped setting, is that we’re all fellow travelers, and once we see one another as such there’s no looking away.
