An aging 80 year old drag queen forms an unlikely friendship with a younger queen, both struggling with their own issues of gender identity and mortality. As they discover more about each other, they realize how to truly be themselves.

Cute and not really anything wrong with it, but it is too slight. I think it has a pretty superficial look of queer culture that isn't offensive, but you can tell the director/writer was not immersed in the culture and in an interview said he didn't want to over research it. Like, I get not wanting to do a movie about drag performers that isn't like they're standing on a soapbox, because how fucking droll, but at the same time it didn't feel completely natural. The idea of being there for one another is strong enough, but the characters never made a connection with me. I guess the strongest thing is that it had a sense of old style drag for its elderly drag character, but new drag didn't translate well with the younger performer.

A real hidden gem of a film, you could imagine Hollywood remaking this, doubling its running time and laying on the mushy sentimentality so much that its twilight era leading man - Dustin Hoffman or Jack Nicholson maybe? - would bag himself an Oscar. But such a remake does not exist (yet at least) and the gongs and plaudits really belong to Derren Nesbitt.

I wish we got to explore Jackie’s relationship w her gender a little more. Though perhaps he really is just an old straight drag queen and that’s okay too- there’s only so much we can get w an 80 minute film where other plotlines are happening too. So much love for her and Faith either way

I almost saw this Brit flick at BFI Flare last year, but glad to have now found this hidden gem on Netflix.

Not my type of film but certainly took me by surprise.
A sweet story with some good acting. And all within 80 minutes. You could do a lot worse I guess.
An enjoyable film that strums an emotional chord however; it’s not always in tune. I think they could have pushed it a lot further. Nesbitt’s performance certainly holds it together and provides the most laughs and emotion. Overall, a decent watch even if it does end quite abruptly.

Lovingly shot and beautifully acted. The intergenerational friendship between the main characters is heartwarming and hopeful.
