One of my most favorite coming of age drama, that wins you over with its moving emotions and inspirational existential outlook. It’s simple yet revolutionary, ambitious and passionate. The characters and their performances are just perfect. Special mention to the enjoyable songs and well written lyrics. A slow burn drama that provides a truly overwhelming experience. Highly recommended.
Yup just rewatched this film cause it's my favorite director's birthday and you bet I cried. Last scene with "azaadiyaan" Track always gives me goosebumps and also I cared for Arjun as same as for Rohan this time. I don't want to add anything more then that. I luv this film. No way I can review this. 5 stars is too less for the film. Gonna go, I'm still in tears. Cinema 🎬
Where Can I Watch Kanti Shah Ke Angoor? (Asking For A Friend Obviously)
Those beautiful poems are still wandering in my head, they are so well written. Movies like these make me wanna write poems fr
I haven't seen many of Hindi movies, It's my first Vikramaditya Motwane movie. Also the fact that this one is debut work astonishes me. Actually I've been suggested this movie when I asked for Anurag Kashyap's movies, He didn't direct this but co-written and produced it but still I'm really glad that I watched this.
It was an intensly heartfelt coming-of-age drama, coming-of-age genre can resonate with me so much if it explores the concepts of self conflicted characters, dreams, self growth, transitioning into adulthood, overcoming hardships and personal problems. Everyone faces these at some point of…
For women, Lady Bird is what Udaan is for men.
Udaan and Lady Bird both have similar themes and are the best of their kind. I don’t think any other film can capture the essence of the father-son and mother-daughter dynamics better than these films.
Both of these films are so accurate that, at some point, the thin line between reality and fiction blurs, and you’ll see yourselves in Rohan and Lady Bird. Both had a knack for writing and wanted to pursue it, but their parents, especially Rohan’s dad and Lady Bird’s mom were against it for the same reason. Although Lady Bird’s mom loved her, she was inexpressive about it. On the contrary, Rohan’s dad was a lost cause.
I just love how both of these films are made for different cultural audiences, yet they share similar themes and messages.
¨Freedom can never be asked for. Seize it and live forever free.¨
Udaan is an Indian film directed by Vikramaditya Motwane which was nominated for the 2010 Cannes Film Festival for the Un Certain Regard Award. Even though it didn't win, I have to admit that the film was pretty strong and had a lot of soul put into it by first time feature film director Motwane. The story isn't original, we've seen the premise before, but the way it is presented and the performances from the unknown actors are what makes the film feel real and authentic. My only complaint might be that the film is a little too long and drags at times, but it still is a…
tum haste kyun nahi ho?
I regret that I haven't watched this gem of a film before.
Vikramaditya Motwane's debut and penned by himself and Anurag Kashyap. This isn't bollywood. This is a hindi coming-of-age drama film thay deals with strict fathers and their adamant atrocities making a slave of their children. Anyone with strict father/parents can relate this on a whole other level. Amit Trivedi's sublime score and Amitabh bhattacharya's lyrics carries the film to a next level. Ronit Roy's fierceful acting makes you hate him to the gut, that's how great his performance is. Truly marvelous film, I'll remember for a while.
Anyone, who wants to watch a good hindi film should definitely check this gem. 🖤
Indian Hindi coming of age-drama film.
A story many Indian kids can relate to.
It is about a kid who is expelled from school and is sent home to live with his abusive father who he hasn't seen for years.
This film has very real world approach and dark tone that many Indian movies don't dwell too much on. By the way, it's on Netflix instant for anyone who wants to check it out.
The film was officially selected to compete in the Un Certain Regard (A Certain Glance) category at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
fuck shitty dads, man
fuck shitty men
If it wasn't for Motwane and Amit Trivedi I would be failing Btech today
I avoid discussing my mental state or anything too personal, so this is a little strange, but no one here really knows me, and this is more of a personal log that I'll come back to later in life. (TW: Way too sappy)
I haven't felt at peace in a long time. When it comes to asking for help, I have a hard time, and when it comes to sharing my struggles, I tend to isolate myself since everything from the outside world and the people in it starts to pierce me. In moments like this, when time feels too muddled to emerge out of; when I feel disgustingly finite in this vast universe, I return to Udaan. I wish…
