Vaazh, Vazh, Vazhl
If you need a dose of feel good and liberating experience watch it.
Vaazh is a crazy mesmerizing audio-visual experience/ journey of philosophical musings which is full of life and breathes each moment without worrying about past nor consequences. Arun Prabhu Purushothaman blows your mind once again with a completely unconventional story/ narrative, and along with the brilliance of cinematographer Shelly Calist, editor Raymond Derrick Crasta, and music composer Pradeep Kumar, they deliver a truly intoxicating experience.
The movie follows an easily manipulatable middle class guy, stuck in his existential crisis, encounters two women in the coming days and what follows is an absurd change of events in his life leading to his catharsis, forms the remaining storyline. The first 40 mins establishes the stage and the tone of the movie and later…
Tomorrow is Tomorrow
Vaazhl is a travel film which flows like a wind changing towards different directions as such as the life of the protagonist of the movie. Though it's a sensitive subject that can be very well handled artistically, the director has treated it light-heartedly. Just like Arun Prabhu's first venture Aruvi, the film has multiple perspectives, subplots, crispy and strong dialogues. Pradeep as protagonist who looks as innocent suits perfectly for the film. And another Pradeep , the composer of the film gives a vibrant composition to film. And the biggest plus of the film is the cinematography. I had seen visuals which I have never ever seen anywhere. Vaazhl is a well made feel-good film that will motivate us to travel more and most importantly encourages us to live only for today and not to worry about tomorrow.

If "Life of Ram" song was a movie.
The film has the theme to live, travel, experience and explore new things. The emotional connect between the child and the protagonist hasn't worked. It feels more like watching the boring travel experience despite the spiced up situations. The things I liked in this film is extraordinary visuals and some good quirky scenes and the philosophical message in the climax. The characters hasn't made any big impact and the film has more of clumsy scenes.Personally this film didn't work for me.
There's not really a plotline for this movie. It's plotless. It just goes with the flow just like the Ghibli Movies and the travel movies of western cinema. The Asian culture mainly Indian Culture doesn't really have this spirit of travel in them. When we talk about travel to someone (be it a relative or a friend) they'll be like "Man why you're spending so much money just to see some trees and mountains it's just waste man". We really think travelling is a waste of time and that's the reason why we don't rejoice our surroundings. That's the reason why some might feel this concept totally outlandish. And another reason is we really depend on someone at every point…
Yatra chinna koomndhiyaan 🥰
Just not my cup of tea, ignore reading this if you liked it coz all I gonna do is to complain.
Miss if you blink editing (a cut every single second, EVERY SINGLE SECOND), constantly changing video ratios (atleast 3 to 4 variations), songs that are overly done for the visuals, cinematography that's overly done for the plot, aesthetic that's overly done for the plot it took to cover, too fantasy-like to be real but too realistically made to brush it off like he attempted it to be a fantasy, women characters as some savior angels with no definite arcs, totally unrealistic characterization and what not?
It feels so absurd when you sit back and think about the film coz…
Vaazhl (2021)
Philosophical. Enlightening. Thought-provoking. Absurdity. Beautiful. Overwhelming. Satisfaction. I can't articulate the way the movie made me to feel. The movie may not be for everyone and some even might think the movie makes no sense at all.
We are given this life to live make sure you live to the fullest. Vaazhl is definitely a great film and it's even good the the director's previous well received work Aruvi.
This might be the best Tamil film I saw this year so far. Impressive performances, beautiful visuals, breathtaking cinematography, sensitive themes, light hearted tone, mystic songs and simple yet deep dialogues made this one was such a fun ride. A great 2nd feature after Aruvi by Arun who gave something unique once again. Both Pradeeps (Actor & Music Director) must receive all the praise they can get. Love it.
The surreal duality of Sivakarthikeyan to act in dumbass bad movies and producing such good movies.
நாளைக்கு... நாளைக்கு
I wish for a Yathramma in my life.
