like i jumped into this expecting a sweet, simple, indie love flick but it was so much more— it was so intimate, so thought-provoking, so human?? i adored the chemistry between the two leads and how their conversations were so deep and emotional. they exude the feeling of star-crossed lovers and im in awe at how they managed to capture a beautiful slow burn between jessie and celine despite only having one night together. what an enchanting film (and thank god there's two more im so ready to jump in on this trilogy now)
literally my childhood, a comfort drama if you will (': its just so silly and outrageous, i can always re-watch it even after years without ever finding it boring. and despite how comical it can be, there are times where it highlights on important themes such as friendship and teamwork. there's been so much live-action adaptations from the manga, but this version will always have my heart <3 im also a sucker for gender bender tropes lmao
