Sorcerer 1977
Sorcerer was in a “legal whirlpool for 20-30” according to Friedkin, and no good print was available until he but considerable effort (included a rights lawsuit w Paramount and Universal) into restoring it for blu ray. Explains why it’s so widely unseen and under appreciated.

Stepping Out 1991
How have I never heard of this film? It seems like something Liz Lemon might dream about after over dosing on her off brand Cheetos.
This movie is as bad as it looks but Liza should have got a Golden Globe nomination for portraying a slightly subdued and humbled version of herself.
The majority of the movie could be watched while folding laundry and filing your toe nails but put those clippers down for the final performance at the end-it will tickle and warm your heart.

Sworn Virgin 2015
Saw this film working for a film festival. Programmers are never suppose to choose favorites but this was certainly one of theirs this year. And after seeing it I could see why it would be held in such high regard.
At first the characters might appear to be swallowed by the vast scenic mountains of Almania, but through the course of the film the director delicately weaves a rich character fabric of complexity, truth and authenticity. The filmmaker challenges the audience's own identity to gender and illustrates the importance of relational presence to our bodies.
