The film did an amazing job of showcasing the looming threat of the military, like storm clouds slowly getting closer and closer. Other films might’ve shown us conversations within the military and what they were planning but this film did an amazing job of putting us in the shoes of Fernanda Torres character.

I’m trying really hard not to compare this to the first Gladiator, and give a standalone review. I didn’t see the twist of Hanno being Lucius and that alone earns this movie a star in my book. The pacing was really fast but I get the feeling there’s a directors cut out there, sitting in Ridley Scott’s hard drive that only he, his family and friends will ever see.
