What I never do, walked out after 20 minutes. I couldn't stand the humorless, sexist, violent vulgarity. Must be a pastiche of James Bond. That seems like a total failure to me, although of course I only saw 20 minutes.

A beautiful work of art, magnificent photography and full of mystery. Poetic and full of images with a deeper symbolism. The occasionally audible radio messages about the economic development of Xinjiang about quantities of chemicals to be produced, raw materials to be mined etc. could be interpreted both positively and negatively. A paradise society that is lost, or a flourishing future for a poor remote region. The heavy trucks that thunder past the closed shop at the end of the film and the fires in the landscape do not bode well. In any case, the film has been approved by the communist party.
