  watched this for sophie thatcher and she redeemed (pun intended) what she could of the plot. it read as if someone had a crisis of faith while stoned and realized all religion hinges on domination and control. but then that person thought they were the first person to realize this, so the film harangues about this idea to the point of exhaustion.
