Mickey 17 2025
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I had fun watching this. A sci-fi social satire with a grim whimsical tone. It was entertaining and fun. But not much else. The Trial 1962
Watched this right after finishing the novel. I like how it captured the disorienting nightmarish quality. The paranoia, claustrophobic anxiety, surrealism, and humour. Anthony Perkins is great as Josef K. The film is also photographed so beautifully; it's visually striking and memorable.

Instant favourite, a timeless classic. Beautifully atmospheric and layered. Sharp, gritty, and cynical. The way everything builds, unfolds, and crumbles is brilliant. The thrill of committing the perfect crime, intoxicating infatuation, greed, betrayal, and the sardonic joke of it all. The cinematography is stunning; love the rich, sharp-edged shadows and clever angles. I’m obsessed with the way light passes through the Venetian blinds in a smoky room. I also love Barton Keyes (Edward G. Robinson is fantastic); his wit, humour, ardor, and his relationship with Walter.
“Closer than that, Walter.”

Overall a very gentle, relatable film, in a way it feels like looking back at someone’s cherished memories.
Also that crushing and longing pain she felt as she walked in the end, I know that pain and I felt…
