If you’re a fan of Jim Carrey’s zany antics, The Mask is a fine addition to other classics like Bruce Almighty, Liar Liar, and, of course, the Ace Ventura films. But unlike those particular films, and though you could compare it to Bruce Almighty, this is a superhero story complete with a meek protagonist, crime-fighting, and a love interest played by Cameron Diaz. Carrey’s signature cartoonish charisma shines through as he straps on the iconic green-faced character, launching the audience…

Ari Aster demonstrates his mastery of executing dread and building tension with his feature-length debut! It left an unforgettable impression on us forever. How could it not? With Toni Collette’s gut-wrenching performance, Aster’s attention to detail, and chilling imagery bound to whiten your knuckles, Hereditary will linger in your mind long after you’ve seen it. Yes, its story is not the most original (and it’s best knowing very little going in), but the film proves that with the right execution, it can still be one of a kind.

Edgar Wright tours us through an alluring neon-lit descent into London with Last Night in Soho! Switching between the glitz and glamor of the 1960s and the depraved, washed out grime of present-day London, the film grips us with a unique spin on time-travel stories, garnished with Wright’s signature electric filmmaking. It doesn’t always complement Wright’s first foray into a more straightforward horror story, with some underdeveloped elements of the script left to be desired. However, with Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy belting out standout performances, it’s still a great horror flick that will haunt you for days on end.

Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg deliver another around of laughs and thrills in their final instalment of the excellent Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy! Simon Pegg and Nick Frost once more lead a stellar cast on an epic pub crawl, jam-packed with excellent Jackie Chan-like action comedy and tyrannical robots. Despite the title, it’s also a heartfelt, sincere flick about freedom, friendship, and nostalgia. Sometimes its pacing and plot developments hitch with a few hiccups, but they’re definitely not enough to derail a good time. So grab your friends, get some drinks, and bask in the glory of drunk men brawling with an entire town. Cheers!
