    Always a welcome annual watch..

The story and screenplay borders on ridiculousness sometimes..

And the cast can really go over the top.. especially Willem Dafoe.
But I always get sucked into this random ass movie.

It's too bad there was a sequel that is pretty much unwatchable.

I'm not a huge fan of Troy Duffy. He seems like quite an epic douche..
But he made a pretty good movie.

    Rocco is always my favorite...

This is quite an enjoyable little caper..
Apparently it was an influence on Tarantino when he made Reservoir Dogs..
The noir feels were excellent.. makes me want to seek out similar noir crime tales..
Kubrick put together quite a movie.. the photography was excellent and the dialogue was pretty sharp.

    And the pace.. 🤌

It glided.. it twisted.. it turned..

And there was an unruly dog.

But really.. a true classic crime film.

As much as I don't approve of his methods.. Kubrick could make a helluva movie.

"At least we don't have to have sex with a farm animal..."

This is one of the great classic Horrors of the 80s..
Fred Dekker really went for it.
A hard boiled detective straight out of the 50s.. an axe wielding nut job wearing weird slippers.. creepy crawly slug jerks from outer space.. lame dude bro buttholes that turn into zombies.. a Neverending friendship between two gnarly buddies.. and one of those buddies having a mega crush on a sweet…

A bit of a difficult film to categorize..

Such as the work of David Lynch.

The last film of his to be released theatrically.. which is kinda something.
And Lynch even tried to campaign to get an Oscar nod for Laura Dern for this film..
Which would have been well deserved.
    This was definitely her movie.

Was it a bit too long? Kinda.
Do we really know what it's about? Not likely..
There's a monkey and a lumberjack and this flash mob dancey scene at the end of the movie.
    Did it make perfect sense??
    Fucking totally....
