    PLLAAAANE FILM PLAAAANE FILM

We Live In Time is SUCH a plane film. That genre of new releases which you just know will compliment a transatlantic flight alongside a chicken casserole. See also: Ridley Scott’s Napoleon and The Menu.

This was watched on a 12 hour flight and it was exactly how I thought it would be.

Undoubtably cringe moments and weird pacing but it still did what it needed to do. I unfortunately do too have feelings and like olive tapenade and have been to Herne Hill so the cutesy moments were mostly enjoyable.

    LIMINAL SPACE O’CLOCK.

Such an unrelenting journey of dread. I must admit I wasn’t crazy about the first half but the eeriness and unpredictability had me hooked by the end. A future favourite I predict.

Entire downstairs Prince Chaz floor sold out at 5:30pm on a Tuesday, and for a film I must admit I had not heard of. LFG

Honestly, 45 minutes in and I felt so sure this was heading towards a Get Out-tier surrealist horror-comedy master class, thanks to its brilliant depiction of class within academic environments and excellent set of side characters (particularly Pike and Grant)

Instead what we get is a ‘Family Guy funniest moments’ for TikTok, where set pieces designed to shock seem…

    Ahhh man this was tough.

There I was, thrilled that Lanthimos had made an anthology film. I’ve always thought his films were at their best when built on particularly bold/funny/dark concepts (Sacred Deer, Dogtooth), but so frequently his films fail to maintain good pacing or emotional depth for me.

Therefore, the idea of a film with three completely separate tales sounded perfect. I went in really expecting some juicy Kafka-esque absurdist thrills.

Fuck me, I’m really starting to get bored…
