Portrait of a Lady on Fire 2019
beautiful but empty, poetic but lifeless, carefully constructed but didn't resonate emotionally with me at all. my mind couldn't stop comparing it to CMBYN, with similar opening credits, story beats and even down to the ending, except it was half as impactful and lasting. and i hate having to compare it to that because like Let's Go Lesbians, but for being another period piece wide release trendy european queer film, call me by your name stuck with me and will continue to stick with me well into the future. i don't see myself thinking about this by the end of next month
