    The Last Supper

    ★★½

As far as profound and authentic films about the Life and Ministry of Jesus of Nazareth go they’re few and far between. The Last Supper is ,unfortunately, a melodramatic movie that fails to leave an impact. I suppose it’s a perfectly wholesome watch to end lent season but most viewers would just be better off waiting for season 5 of The Chosen.

  • Opus

    Opus

    ★★

Opus is a confusing indie film about celebrity worship and how it breeds a cult-like fanbase that, ultimately, feels like a mishmash of other films that have covered the same grounds. John Malkovich is clearly having a fun time going full Malkovich but even his unhinged performance can’t redeem this movie.

    The Rule of Jenny Pen

    ★★★

The Rule of Jenny Pen is a psychological thriller about a nursing home patient (Geoffrey Rush) who’s psychologically tormented by his mentally insane subtenant (John Lithgow). It’s unclear whether the film is meant to be intentionally funny, but John Lithgow gives a manically over-the-top performance that at least made it engaging to watch.

  • Good Grief

    Good Grief

    ★★★

Good Grief is a well intended, but emotionally manipulative queer romcom that overdramatizes it’s central themes of loss and heartbreak.
