    POOR THINGS REVIEW:

    || UK PREMIERE @ BFI LFF ||

    This has been one of my most anticipated films of the year since it was announced. So when I heard that it was being delayed in the UK till January of 2024 I was absolutely devastated... well I was until LFF stepped in. I am so grateful, again, to be one of the first people to see this masterpiece of a film in the UK, especially months before release.

    What I'm about to say has not affected the films rating at all. I enjoyed the film but unfortunately was largely bored throughout the runtime, especially in the middle. If I had a better experience at the cinema I would still give it the same rating. Anyway, let me tell you a story.

    I have just come out of the cinema from what is possibly the worse cinema experience I have had to date.

    This is the first film I watched on my new LG C477 OLED and holy shit it's like I'm actually seeing colour for the first time.

    I was also quite wrong about this film the first time although, I do still believe it's a little messy story wise.

    THE KITCHEN REVIEW:

    Although I liked the ideas in the film, the execution was not done right and overall was just bored throughout the runtime. There's not much dialogue, which in some films is great but this wasn't the type of film that fitted that genre. The parts where there were dialogue felt weird and almost written by robots.

    I was gritting my teeth just waiting for the film to end, only to find it wasn't really a satisfying ending. I love Daniel Kaluuya and the ideas here were great. I definitely will stick around for his next film but I hope its executed better!
