  Lady Bird charmingly sums up the awkwardness of growing up, wanting to fit whilst not fitting in, and the pressure of everyday adolescence. The film captures with good spirit the turmoil of a Catholic upbringing, with sex, mental health and questions of faith taboo. Furthermore, issues of class, financial woes and the anxiety of terrorism underpin the plot set in the early noughties.
