After watching some newer Zemeckis duds, seeing a film where his grand storytelling matches the material like this feels like something special. Maybe the best movie at filming monitors and CRTs and making it cinematic. Whether it be video calls, news reports, security footage, or just data.

When done right, Zemeckis’ schmaltzy sincerity absolutely hits for me, as it does here.

This really hit all the right notes for me. Porky and Daffy in a 50s sci-fi riff is a great concept. While the budget doesn't seem as big as other animated films, the lighting in some scenes and expression make me glad I saw this on the big screen. While it’s not the ultimate Looney Tunes story, the character work here is great, especially this Clampett inspired version of Daffy. While I don’t think anything can recapture those Golden Age shorts, this movie proves these characters can still be funny in modern day with modern animation.

In preperation for Nolans upcoming movie Dunkirk I decided to rewatch his previous film.

I was very surprised that he did an animated movie something not many live action directors have been able to do successfully. The best part of this movie is the score. Han Zimmer's score dominates and drives most of the film with secences like "Harder, Strong, Better, Faster" almost making me want to get up and dance.

Toward the end we see so psycodelic imagery that not even Inception coud top.

Nolan surprised me and delivered something very different that will definitely become a personal and cult classic.
