Jagame Thandhirams biggest problem is that it doesn’t know what it wants to be. It tries to blend this gangster action comedy with talk of the world refugee crisis and I just don’t think it works. Even the visual palette here, which is always strong in a Subbaraj movie, lacks that focus too. While individual ideas may be neat, the overall picture comes out to being kinda generic.
However this movie is fascinating to look at as a precursor of what became Jigarthanda Double X, which handles this blending of masala and messages much more elegantly.
