  can't believe I'm saying this but this animated movie on netflix might actually be really great queer cinema? Goes suprisingly far beyond the liberal treatment of queerness and insteads treats it as something radical!

  omg that twist is so so dumb I really love it. absolute peak moment when they did that. also more nazi killing (hooray) and the noticeable absence of the misogny and exoticism present in most of the other movies (hooraaay!!!) make this actually a quite enjoyable watch. it's fun and dumb and actually better than I expected. please let the franchise die now, thank you!!

  this movie is a win for queer cinema, essentially

  the only thing I'm still having some problems with is how abusive the relationship between fei and long is in the beginning and after a time skip they're quite a cute pair. Because the movie does not bother to tell the part of the story between those two poles, there's potential for some harmful ideas settling in its stead.
