the feeling it gives of when you were little and things around were just a little bit too much, where everything was so tall and you were so close to the ground. the scary and gigantic monsters that are almost entirely unaware of their own physical strenght (i'd even make a comparison w/ the teenagers from the beginning of the film) represents well what I think the movie tries to show, atleast from max's perspective. honestly one my favorite movies!
