It's interesting that it requires (and no offense to my other trans or intersex friends here) a biological "leap" of imagination for the institutional reformers to ever achieve the change that they secretly hope for- the inclusion of women (or perhaps better termed as the dismantling of male supremacy) at all levels of the institution.
Maybe that is the ultimate irony- the fact that the film coyly argues that maybe God is fundamentally a liberal too. After all, the gaps…

This film's "victims" appear so utterly despicable and illogical that sympathy is hard to find. Each is so overflowing with their own hamartia that it seems lazy to make the antagonist some sort of intangible, unstoppable psychopathic murderer. I'm sure Othello would have been much more shocking if Iago just stabbed everyone to death in Act III, but narratively it's somewhat flawed, which is exactly what's going on here.
Oliver Quick's motivations are so obscured in service of "shock" value…
