  this mostly doesn't deserve anything more than stating that it's a bland rehash of the original movie with a few minor pieces of flair that don't save it from its modern thudding and plodding story beats, but reanimating Ian Holm's still warm corpse and making him a major character is beyond the pale, taking it from low mediocre range to evil.

  I mean, it's fine. I've seen the other Nosferatu movies, you've gotta do something of your own to justify this existence rather than just nodding at the previous iterations. Is the idea to make a crowd pleasing blockbuster? It feels like it's meant to but can't possibly be.

  Beyond being unoriginal, everything was safe, to the point you think it's intentionally playing with it to break it later, but without payoff. Eggers shoots everything straight on, occasionally in shots so…
