  An extremely thought provoking film following the 1981 hunger strike held in protest by Irish Republican prisoners and it’s the bravest debut I’ve seen from any director.

  Steve McQueen portrays the rawest form of unfiltered suffering and violence throughout this film; presented through the brutality the political prisoners endure at the hands of guards and the extreme body deterioration that Michael Fassbender goes through in protest.
