I liked what the director did with the OG franchise and, although cheesy here and there, I liked that he was not affraid to defy genres and give us a wholesome movie (not just horror for horror's sake) that engages with deeper themes.
Haunting imagery, suprisingly progressive in terms of religion and sexuality (for a 50s movie though; expect to hear racist slurs towards Romani people) and creative camera movement.
As a walking Scooby-Doo encyclopedia I couldn't miss out on the occasion to review my favourite Scooby-Doo film. I love how this film challanges the pre-established Scooby-Doo 'tropes' but also how it satirises the process of growing up and facing real world problems. The theme song is unapologetically catchy and I appreciate how it distracts me from the frightening monsters that still unsettle me a bit as an adult.
