The Deep Blue Sea 2011
One of the most devastating and painful last 15 minutes I can remember watching. Achingly sad.
The ‘cockles and mussels’ Aldwych tube sequence is breathtaking.
Terrence Davies, king of the dissolves, king of the period pub singalong, is sorely missed.

Morvern Callar 2002
Euphorically enigmatic.
A film that I couldn’t get to grips with first time around, reveals itself to be utterly remarkable upon rewatching - I think maybe for the same exact reasons. I have no idea how Ramsay and Morton managed to pull it off, but they do. They put a spell on you.
Glad it’s on iPlayer and hope more people get to watch/rewatch it. It needs to be rewatched.

Soul 2020
Every now and then, a film comes a long that makes me want to rave like a madman, exhaust every superlative and then label it a profound, goosebump-inducing, breathtaking, hilarious, life-affirming, visionary masterpiece. If that happens, I try to rein it in a bit. Play it cool. Lower expectations, so that everyone can see it and like it as much as I did. I don’t want to but know that I should.
Soul is that film.
I loved it from the first second and I didn’t stop loving it the whole way through. Damn it, Pixar.
