  A perfectly adequate spy movie, that does right by its star studded cast in its extremely competent director's hands.
  Still it was simply missing... something... thus stopping it from fulfilling its full potential.

  While being pretty simplistically straight forward about what it wants to say, American Fiction is quite well made, feels well intentioned enough and is stacked with an amazing cast delivering stellar scene stealing performances (even in the smaller bit roles) that one can easily overlook the "in your face" of it all.

  A very well made, absolutely stunning rettelling of the vampire myth/adaptation of Dracula/remake of the 1922 silent movie, that sadly offers nothing new to the lore.
  Major kudos for going all in with the gothic atmosphere, but I'm still not entirely convinced it adds much to the genre.

  I think saying "while certainly not reductive it still felt a bit redundant" would sum it up pretty nicely.

  The gratest tragedy was that I watched this film in what was basically an empty theatre. For shame! Such excellent cinema should have had a packed screening!
  Political but absolute fun and 100%to the point. One of the best films I'm seen this year.
