Everything Everywhere All at Once 2022
I mean. This is the best movie I’ve seen in years. It’s very much the same kind of movie as Swiss Army Man, but everything feels levelled up to a massive degree. Absolutely wonderful.

Scream VI 2023
It’s not the kind of movie where, at the end, everything comes together and makes sense. That’s okay. It continues the series’ tradition of in turn subverting and fulfilling expectations so you’re never completely sure what’s going to happen, even when you’ve got a pretty good idea. It’s fun, it’s gory, and sometimes that’s all you want.

Eighth Grade 2018
The audience at the theatre I saw it at erupted into applause at several points during the film, almost exclusively during moments when the protagonist, Kayla, managed to step out of her shell. The film is incredibly true to the experience of that time of your life, and Kayla is a wonderfully vulnerable character. I spent the whole film hoping beyond words that everything would go okay for her, even when the stakes were no larger than growing up into a teenager. A truly masterful experience.
