really good, despite offering an almost-explicit endorsement of the narrative that the bombs did in fact end the war — mostly because it focuses on the hibakusha themselves.
watching Lawrence Johnston smile through his entire interview is a viscerally disgusting experience, almost on par with the images/stories of the bombing victims at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. the fact that he and the other American interviewees have seemingly lived out the rest of their days in comfort and tranquility is a deep tragedy
