  This was going to become my first 4 stars for a horror film but there were some moronic aspects in the second half of the film.

  The pacing and the plot were definitely the weaker parts.  The cinematography (especially the composition) was outstanding.  The acting was also good, and unique- almost a homage to the theatrics of the original silent era.

  Dafoe saved this for me from 3 star territory, especially his epic smack down of Sir Isaac Newton.
  Overall, worth seeing, and probably more if you like horror movies, as all my troglodyte friends and family do.
