Beautifully shot film about the relationship between two boys and their estranged father in Russia. The child actors were fantastic and I thought ambiguity and mystery was deftly used.

The Witch 2015
This film really worked for me. The detailed set and costume design - thick woolen clothes, hand hewn furniture etc. - made for almost tactile visuals which amounted to an incredibly immersive experience. This and the fantastic pacing made the moments of horror even more visceral. It probably also helped that the characters had northern accents which always works for me. I sometimes find old English jarring, but the dialogue felt very natural.
