For a film about superstar pro-wrestlers, The Iron Claw is incredibly human.
Knowing nothing about the Von Erich family, their story almost feels like a Shakespearean tragedy. It details how detrimental the constant drive for approval and validation can be on a person. This film asks you why isn’t good ever good enough? This film tells you sometimes it’s okay to not be okay.
Classic Linklater. Hit Man is hilarious, but gives you so much to chew on, specifically around ideas of self-actualization, identity, and the structure of our justice system. Glen Powell is a star, and really reminds me of a young Matthew McConaughey. If you can see this in a theatre, please do, it plays so well with a crowd.
