The Decline of Western Civilization (1981)
After a horrific first time viewing, I have finally redeemed myself with a rewatch worth its salt in PBRs. And Jesus Christ, somebody hunt down that film stock for me.
This would have had a movie tie-in game in 2006 and the game would've been better.
A very fun film, but it feels like a medley of the various themes Bong has tackled in the past without really having the depth for any one to really stand out. It leaves a lot of info up to expositional dialogue to explain the world (which is helpful at times, but a lot could honestly get cut) and sacrifices a lot of character development as a result. What's there is really good on a moment-by-moment basis, but I think the way it was tackled doesn't allow for this idea to really flourish into what it could be.
Sorry to snitch but Karsten's out here showing this whole film in his video
