This hollow shell of the prequel Get Shorty is a bit disappointing. While trying to reflect many of the tropes of the first, this movie has no real added value to the first story. The spark that John Travolta showed in the first is lost and he simply utilizes the success as a movie producer to connect into the music business, in a slimey and noncharming way.
A notable mention must be made of a wholly invested Vince Vaughn for leaning heavily into his part. Possibly the only unique and intriguing character in the movie.
