This is actually a pretty solid and fun Coen flick that I’ve never really heard mentioned much. Amazing cast and definitely the Coen’s best use of George Clooney up to this point in my opinion. Weird oddball plot that seems right up their alley. Good stuff

Wooden Crosses 1932
Must’ve been a spectacle for its time, a depressing ass spectacle. The film can come off as drawn out at times but that seems intentional in trying to convey the endless persistence and despair of the war they’re depicting. The characters didn’t stick with me as much as some other WW1 films of the era but the poignant realism in performances and tone from French films of the era still impresses me
