There’s a motif of Michael getting more and more alone as the film goes on. To the point where at the end of the movie Tom even takes his own initiative to get Frank Pantangeli to kill himself. We see Micheal become more separated from his family, rarely seeing him with his mother, killing Fredo, chasing away Kay, and him being more separated from his children seen in the multiple shots in his office where his kids move further away…
