Thanks to the annual TBS marathon I always manage to catch this holiday staple at least once every December 25. A wonderful family classic, I never tire of watching it. Brilliantly narrated by author Jean Shepherd, it remains one of my favorite Christmas movies, along with It's a Wonderful Life (1946) and Scrooge (1951).

The Star Wars Holiday Special 1978
While the rest of America was braving crowds to see Episode VII: The Force Awakens, I was watching the notorious 1978 television special for the first time. It certainly lives up to its bad reputation. TV icons Art Carney, Harvey Korman and Bea Arthur are accomplices in the making of this boob tube disaster. An embarrassing production, but amusing to watch at times for the cast and a few laughs. Essential viewing for devoted Star Wars completists, as well as masochists.

The Lost World 1925
An entertaining silent fantasy-adventure based on the book by Arthur Conan Doyle. In some ways it's a precursor to King Kong, with an expedition led by Professor Challenger (Wallace Beery) encountering a number of dinosaurs. The climax includes a brontosaurus on the loose in London. The stop-motion animation is impressive, especially for its day.
