I don't think Poor Things is about feminism. It's a movie that makes fun of social and moral conventions, with a humorous and grotesque tone. What would happen if an adult body was thrown in our society, without having any measure of social norms? Now, this is Poor Things.
The subtle but cumbersome settings, the colorful and surreal scenographies and the dreamlike photography remind us that a world free of prejudices, manias, moral judgments, can only exist under an absurd…

People coexist, with poor - slow interactions, in a cinema on the way of failure. "This theater is haunted". Spectators seem to be there for no reason. They have nothing to say to each other. The passage of time is confusing, suspended, marked by nothing but alternation of movies on the screen. The past encroaches on the future - the owner of the cinema stands like an eternal ethereal presence.
Such an empty movie can be filled with any kind of meaning.
Still, it's way too slow not to fall asleep.

The message is clear: the extermination of Jews was far away from the daily life of Germans in Nazi Germany. The strictly symmetrical shots make the atmosphere alienating and distressing. The war is aseptic, beyond the wall. But the movie is unnecessarily heavy and slow. A meaningful message from a film that has little to do with "beauty".
