An unfortunate adaptation of a very nice story. Apart from Cyrano himself, played by Dinklage, the movie is ruined by his lover Roxanne's not-as-good recitation and by the transposition of the musical into movie: it gives a sense of trying to emulate Les Miserables, but failing. Buddhism of the Zen tradition, depicted in its own fashion through architecture, calligraphy, bond with nature and pupil-master relationship.
