This is a film about anxiety and the transference of anxiety from the parent to their child in the family unit. The Grimcutty is a metaphor for that anxiety.
I don't understand the low ratings, I think most young adults that are watching this think that it is an attack on technology, and in a small way it is. But it really has much more to say about parenting.
