who is jake hoyt? denzel leaves no doubt in my mind he’s one of the greatest ever with this performance where it feels like his goal the entire movie is to test ethan hawke’s charcter’s resolve as a man and as a police officer. in my mind this is what a dirty looks like…power drunk, abusing the system and the people, while believing he’s feared by everyone around him.
