An absolute classic. I've been researching classic examples of western films. In terms of narrative and real-time storytelling, High Noon certainly pushes the boundaries of convention from 1952, but also leans nicely into the iconographic style of the western. It seems to nicely fit into the norms of today, with stronger representation of Mexican and female characters than many would expect, alongside some rather experimental and technologically advanced camera angles. Would recommend to say the least!

Truly beautiful film, incredible visual construction of scenes and lovely cinematography. The only major drawback is the fairly substantial gap between the audience and the characters. The lack of relatability to the characters’ situation makes it quite hard to root for them with any of your own experiences with you. Lovely visuals, but the film doesn’t quite immerse you well enough. Highly recommend either way!

    A film like no other.
Having watched this a few times, I began to notice one thing in particular.
-Lumet has completely broken the basic principles of cinema...
    Conventions such as:
-don't introduce all of your characters at once
-use a variety of locations to keep an audience entertained
-a film must follow a specific narrative
...are not followed within this film.
That is not unnatural in cinema nowadays, coinciding with the constant hunt for creativity and an increasingly scarcer…

Absolutely loved this, something about films with limited location that really resinate with me. This gets way too much hate based off its reviews. It IS flawed, but actually a really entertaining watch :).
