The Usual Suspects 1995
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The first 30 minutes were a bit hard to get into; it wasn’t until I saw the teammate flipping through cash and getting killed at the pier that I became more certain of the mystery behind the unreliable narration.

The Elephant Man 1980
Self-reflexive exploitation is still exploitation—feels like a “choose your poison” scenario. In the end, true liberation comes through creation and/or death.

Tarantino, Fincher, the Coens, and Nolan have all played with nonlinear storytelling, but Lynch’s feels the most organic. His dreams aren’t fate’s mockery but echoes of waking anxieties, seeping in and bleeding back. The night before watching, I dreamt a variation of my own fears—Lynch’s nightmare matched it so closely it felt suffocatingly real. His horror always grows from within.
