This film is one of those hidden gems that requires a few rewatches and half thought-out analyses to fully appreciate. On first glance, something feels off, but I think the writing and casting helped me get over that feeling.
The writing is sharp and heartfelt, and the characters really resonate. They feel like a perfect snapshot of how I see friendships/new relationships are being built and maintained in today’s world. Could this be a definitive portrayal for this generation? Maybe.
(I’ll come back to finish this eventually. Need to talk about the mom/fam)
This movie captures the unassuming moments in some peoples lives that others observe with awe.
I think it was a great directional debut for Celine Song - I’m excited to see what comes next. Definitely not a movie that will wreck you for the sake of wrecking, but it’s “mature” and “beautiful” as described by a fellow moviegoer, a stranger I probably knew in a past life. *wink wink*
The men in this film are completely unnecessary. Kirby was great. I wish we had more of Martha’s POV… The silences throughout her commutes left me wanting more of her in isolation.
