A new and fresh depiction of the vampiric legend of nosferatu popularised by german expressionist epic in 1922, Eggers manages to faithfully adapt the source material whilst reinventing the classic Dracula story written by Bram Stoker. His period style works wonders and successfully draws in any audience member with its captivating visuals combined with stand out performances by Lily Rose Depp, Nicolas Holt and of course Bill Skarsgard as the titular Count Orlock. It is hard to put this film into words, go and experience it for yourself.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York 1992
Rewatched this on Christmas eve nothing more festive than pelting bricks at home invaders. Plus watching Joe Pesci try not to swear is great, I like to think Joe wanted to be in these movies to throw people off the scent that he is a real wise guy.

The Babadook 2014
A very gripping and ambiguous horror tale with fantastic underlying themes of grief and depression. The mise en scene paired with off putting angles and imagery creates an intimate yet cold atmosphere with tension building so fast and thick you could cut it with a knife. The only aspect it loses points is the kid, Samuel don’t think there has ever been a more annoying child in a film, bless his poor mum.
